Celebrating Two Years of MP México with Andrés María Herrero Vegué, Business Unit Manager

In this interview, discover how Andrés’s determination supported the creation of the Querétaro hub and contributed to the establishment and success of MIGSO-PCUBED in México!

Can you tell us about your background and the creation of the México hub?

When I first moved to México, I was looking for the opportunity to create something from scratch, and I knew MP would be a perfect fit immediately after my first interview. I joined MIGSO-PCUBED in March 2022 as a Business Manager, and I was the first member of the México team as we didn’t have any established operations here at the time. It took some time, but by September our hub was officially opened, and by the end of the year, we had a team of four consultants.

Our small team spent 2022 just trying to put down roots, but by 2023, we started to see constant growth. I can’t believe it but we’ve just celebrated our second anniversary, and we’ve reached almost 60 consultants. Along with this major milestone, we’ve just moved into a beautiful new office space, full of people and full of energy, and I’m truly excited about the path we are on to continue our growth.

Can you share any insights into what makes the company culture among the México team so strong?

We’ve truly embraced MIGSO-PCUBED’s excellence, commitment, and team spirit values here in the Querétaro hub.

Everyone on our team has the same mindset of delivering excellence – feeling like we can always be better and perform better. I’m happy to see how the team has put effort into this mindset, and I feel really proud about our output, both in the delivery that I see but also the feedback we get from our clients. The commitment our team shows every day to striving for excellence is so impressive.

I’m also so proud of our team’s spirit and the community that we’ve built here. From a delivery standpoint, one person’s success is everyone’s success. On a team of six, for example, we never see any one person vying to be the best. The team itself is the best because they elevate each other to be successful.

We know that MP is like a big family, so we make sure to take care of each other. I love that this community that we’ve built extends outside of work, too. They go to the same gyms after work, they spend time together in their free time and on the weekends, and it’s just amazing to see.

What projects is MP México working on at the moment?

Everything we do here relates back to the PMO. Some of our engagements are more related to scheduling and supporting project timelines, while others focus more on communications and stakeholder management, as well as PMO analysis and measuring project success.

Our hub was initially formed to support the automotive industry here in Querétaro, but we have started to diversify our customer portfolio into new sectors like the aerospace and manufacturing industries. As our hub grows, we’re excited to continue supporting the growth of local businesses and industries based here in Querétaro.

What advice would you give to someone considering working in the field of project management in México?

Speaking from experience, I moved to México from Spain about six years ago, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. México is a place of meritocracy; when you work hard, you will succeed, which is really why I moved here.

Querétaro specifically is a beautiful city that is full of life. I was shocked when I first moved here to see that my views were like the images of México that you see in movies, with picturesque sunsets and perfect weather. It really is like living in a movie sometimes.

So, my advice to you is to stop thinking about it and come here!
